(80-100%)

Outstanding work showing real critical insight; deep understanding of the subject. Should exhibit both breadth and depth of reading and/or use of supporting data that goes beyond simple reviews or summaries.  Presentation should be based on logical argument and coherent structure.

(70-80%)

Comprehensive and  fluent treatment of the subject, with effective use of  research material, etc. and all assertions fully  understood and  described. No serious flaws or misconceptions though some errors of fact or interpretation are acceptable. Standard of presentation (spelling, grammar, punctuation, citation of literature, etc.) should be reasonable.

(60-70%)

Fluent treatment of the subject but not. All assertions may not be  fully  understood and  or described. However there are no serious flaws or misconceptions though some errors of fact or interpretation are acceptable. Standard of presentation should be reasonable.

(50 -60%)

A satisfactory piece of work, that goes beyond mere replication of material encountered on the web etc. Will probably lack the depth of perception or analytical treatment of material expected of a 60-70% essay/project. Some errors or omissions acceptable.

(40 -50%)

Very basic, limited approach that fails to cover the topic fully. Will usually lack background or contextual material; research effort is not evident-  little  engagement with the subject. Weaknesses in presenting the material.
